Recommended Pub Specs for Expandable Banners

The following specs are accepted across the large majority of publishers, and are a conservative, lowest-common-denominator recommendation for building your ads. However, it is recommended that you confirm that these specs are allowable with each relevant publisher in advance of production.

 

Additional flexibility may be gained by consulting the specifications at the actual publishers on your media plan.

Ad Specifications:

Initial file size: 30k
Secondary loads: Max 100k weight on the page
Max animation time: 15 seconds
Max Expanded Size: Varies by unit size (see table below)
Expansion method: Rollover or click
Collapse method: Should be same as Expansion method (rollover or click).
Prominent "Close" button: Required
Audio: User-initiated with click only
Video: Auto-starting video ok, without audio
Required video controls: Stop button
Pause/Play button
Audio on/Audio off button

Recommended Pub Specs for In-Banner Streaming Video

When running streaming video, please follow the below specs; due to the fact that Atlas Rich Media offers a True Streaming Solution, the specs for video should NOT have a cap of 100k like in the link below. File Size:

Initial max file size: 40k

Audio:
  • User initiated audio available on user click OR user mouse-over.
  • If mouse-over initiates the audio, there MUST be a 1 second delay.
  • The audio MUST stop when the banner is moused-off.
  • There is a 30 second maximum on audio served in conjunction with a video stream.
  • Audio served independent of a video stream may be 15 or 30 seconds.
Video:
  • Format should be True Streaming solution.
  • There is a 30 second maximum on video stream length.
  • Video that is longer than 30 seconds MUST be initiated by click only.
  • There are no frequency caps on the video portion of In-Banner Streaming units.
  • The video can play every time the user sees the In-Banner Streaming unit.
Button Functionality:
  • Play, Stop/Pause, and Mute buttons are preferred.
  • Stop/Mute and Start buttons are required.
